All Friends Volunteers and Members are invited as our guests to celebrate people who help to make the Washington-Centerville Public Library a home.
During our Annual Meeting, you will participate in our elections, meet our new board members, and play a brief round of trivia to see who knows the most about our favorite library!
Best of all, we’ll be presenting a check to the library to help fund the new Creativity Commons!
During the Gathering with Friends, we will provide sandwich platters and other snacks as well as soft drinks to thank all Friends members and volunteers for supporting our organization. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
You may view the amendments to our bylaws before we vote during the Annual Meeting. Former text has been struck out, while new text has been boldfaced and Italicized.
We will elect three new board members for the open positions of Vice President, Secretary and Member-at-Large, and re-elect our treasurer, Beth Thorowgood, for her second term. Brief biographies of the new candidates are below.
Jane Herman, Nominee for Friends Board Vice President
Jane Herman is a Centerville native. After graduating from Bowling Green State University, she worked for the State of Ohio for nearly 13 years. She later moved back to the Dayton area, where she now resides with her husband, Troy, and their 18-year-old daughter, Chloe. Jane loves spending time with her family, friends and Labrador retriever, Lucy. She also enjoys volunteering, traveling, Pilates, pickleball and curling up with a good book.
Mindy Hoffbauer, Nominee for Friends Board Secretary
Mindy Hoffbauer moved to Washington Township when she was 5, which is also when she started visiting the Centerville Library (on Virginia Ave). She later earned degrees in English/Literature from Sinclair and Wright State and spent decades working mainly as a technical writer and editor. Mindy owns and runs ContempoRoast Coffee and Roastery in Centerville with her son, Andy, and her husband, Greg. She and her husband are Centerville Noon Optimists. *Mindy has been filling in as secretary since August 2025.
Julie Cochran, Nominee for Friends Board Member-at-Large
Centerville has always been my home. I grew up on Route 725 back when it was just a two-lane country road and attended Centerville schools. My husband, Ken, and I have four children and 13 grandchildren that keep us busy. We both just retired and look forward to some travelling, volunteering, and a little slower pace to life.
